Work Package 5; Vacancy 3
Project Title: Advanced integrative phenotyping modules for mouse models of cognitive/affective disordersLocation: BiObserve GmbH, Bonn, Germany
Supervisor: Dr. C. Gutzen
Objective: The aim is the development of advanced and innovative soft- and hardware for a wide range of behavioural experiments. Besides the refinement of currently available methodology by an inclusion of posture analysis, it is of high importance to combine behavioural, autonomic and electrophysiological methods in long-term experiments. This requires the synchronization of multiple independent measures and the interface of various hardware components with adequate software. Nonlinear algorithms may further increase the sensitivity of behavioural measures and their qualitative judgment of changes with regard to physiology and pathology. The ESR will be involved in developing this technically and highly demanding direction for refined analyses that may serve as a platform for automated high-throughput behaviour screening of genetic mouse models. This ESR will collaborate with ESRs of WP.5.1 and WP.5.2.
Methology: The fellow will use / learn: Development of new (non-linear) algorithms for behavioural phenotyping, High/Low throughput phenotyping
Requirements: We are looking for candidates with a master degree in Biology (or equivalent), preferably with a background in Neuroscience, an interest in imaging techniques and a strong motivation to pursue a career in science. The candidate is expected to show a high degree of independence and flexibility for participation in courses with different partners. Talented, highly motivated candidates are invited to apply by sending a comprehensive cover letter, cv and letter of recommendation to this mail address. Please fill out the eligibility check before you apply to one of our positions. (Fill in your information and Duration = 36 months; Host organisation type = Non international organisation; Fellow type = Early Stage Research Training - multi partner)
Planned rotation: In the second year a secondment to Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, the Netherlands is planned for 7 months
